Everyone at some point has run into the same problem in their life. You don’t know how to talk to older generations. Sometimes it’s not so easy, because they have seen so much, and can only relate to what you’re going through to some degree.

Marketing to a generation that is rather new to technology, that many of us have grown up with, can sometimes be a challenge. Thankfully, we have a few tips to help you appeal to boomers and beyond.

Familiar Language

Using trendy slang and phrases could end up hurting you in the long run. When speaking to older people, use phrases that they know and will be able to relate with. Do a little research before you start to market anything. Research events, slang, and language used during your desired demographic’s lifetime and build your posts and ads around your findings.

Assurance

Building trust is key. Give assurances constantly. Whenever you need personal information, always explain why it is needed and that it will never be misused in any way. Always remain consistent in your business practices so you never break that trust with them.

The best thing you can do is personalize every interaction with them – the modern world has grown so cold and is nothing like it was when they were younger. Younger generations have their minds on a million things, and they forget to be personable when marketing to older generations.

Try to come from a warmer angle and be engaged; you will be surprised at what happens.
